Official Race Rules for the Loyalist Kids of Steel Triathlon:
All participants must wear an approved cycling helmet while on the cycling course.
Chin straps must be fastened before removing the bike from the bike rack. Chin straps must remain fastened until the bike has returned to the bike rack.
Participants must rack their own bikes in the transition area.
Boys and girls must wear shirts or singlets during the bike and run.
Bib numbers must not be altered in any way (do not cut, trim or fold the number) they must be worn as is. Please try to have your bib number visible on the front of the body at the finish line (if we can read it we can announce your name as you cross the finish line.)
Aero bars, race wheels and quick release pedals: please consult the OAT website for the current rules regarding the use of this equipment. The rules have changed recently (several times) and the OAT site should have the most relevant information posted. If in doubt please contact OAT for clarification.
Drafting on the bike course is not permitted.
Participants and parents must conform to the rules of fair play and good sportsmanship.
Parental assistance is not permitted on the race course or in the transition area once the race has begun. Any outside assistance may result in immediate disqualification.
The OAT Official or Race Director may disqualify a participant who is in direct violation of the rules.
All participants must belong to OAT or must purchase an OAT One Day Membership at the cost of $6 (for each race).
Kickstands attached to the rear wheel axle and bent or broken reflectors must be removed. Kickstands that are mounted on the bottom bracket (pedal axle) may be left on the bike.
Athletes must obey race marshals, they are for your safety! Failure to do so may result in disqualification.
Athletes may appeal penalties/disqualifications to the race director at the completion of their wave. The race director's decision is final.
